| I dunno exactly the voltage, but I think you'd know when your computer starts smoking... ![]() personally, I wouldn't OC a quad at all on a 4-phase board.:dontknow: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 + Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL + Thermalright HR-05 IFX 2GB G.Skill 800MHz F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB Silverstone Decathlon 650W Western Digital 250GB SATA II |

I'd still get the aftermarket cooler though. Although the stock cooler is just dandy, the aftermarket cooler one will probably extend the CPU's life a little. BTW, what kind of programs/games will you be using/playing? Cuz, you may not even need the quad..... just get an E8400 and upgrade to a Q9450 down the road. Edit: Nate has a good point about the cooler, it may be worth it to grab that aftermarket cooler. ![]() Last edited by Parker; April 12th, 2008 at 14:29.

| Does the Q9450 even have a fan? since its OEM verson. Could you link me which motherboard you were talking about for 40bucks more, although i might not change my setup i don't think i need to overclock. Games that come to mind.. Age of conan, warhammer online, Starcraft 2, company of heros, might try out crysis, i already own call of duty 4 on xbox360. *might* try out bioshock & mass effect and assassins creed. I also think i should try out Dawn of War. I have never overclocked before and am not familiar with it just a side note, this computer i'm on right now i had built at frys 3 years ago, it *was* awesome at the time and can still play most these games on low-medium settings. It has an amd 3800 processor, and a readon x800 graphics card. One more side edit~ Do you know of any games that are coming out that i should be looking forward to? i have not been into pc gaming for awhile since i was occupied with other things Last edited by diabloplayer75; April 12th, 2008 at 14:37. |

mobo's to consider: Newegg.com - ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards $140 after MIR Newegg.com - ASUS P5K PRO LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 + Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL + Thermalright HR-05 IFX 2GB G.Skill 800MHz F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB Silverstone Decathlon 650W Western Digital 250GB SATA II

| alright i'm looking at Newegg.com - ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards Since it has a good rebate it seems like the better choice, btw how hard is it to claim your rebate? does this mobo allow dual video cards? maybe a year down the road i can get a second video card, another 8800gt would probably be way cheaper in a year Edit: Going with the q9450 is the best way right? rather then getting the Q9300 for like 55$ less its a good investment? I am trying to understand the difference still Last edited by diabloplayer75; April 12th, 2008 at 14:55. |

| Do i scare u? | Yea I just realized this too.... well, check out the AC Freezer 7, $32 isn't bad, and it's better than the intel stock cooler. ![]() You'll be able to OC a little with that BTW.[/quote] Quote: Quote:
IMO, I don't think you would see much performance increase between an E8400 and Q9450, maybe a little bit but not enough to go paying $160 more for..... I'd say stick with an E8400, doing this you don't have to check out any better mobo's either! ![]() ![]()
