We had a nice big story on this not to long ago....
suggested to get AS5, MX7 or ICD7 (see the review to decipher these )

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Have you placed the order yet? If not, just add it to the order on Newegg...the shipping says $5 but if you order it with other things they just throw it in the box and not charge extra for it. That goes for most of the order, if they can cram alot of stuff in one box you only pay the shipping on that box.

Arctic Silver 5, while not a bad paste, wasn't recommended in light of today's candidates. Editor's Choice picks went to (in no particular order):

Arctic Cooling's MX-2
Tuniq's TX-2 (what I personally use)
OCZ Freeze
Shin Etsu G-751
Innovative Cooling's Diamond 7 (ICD7)

I've been playing around with the Zalman thermal goop this last week, and I've got to say the brush is like application heaven. Even if it's usually 5 or so degrees off from ICD7, its not a pain to squeeze out or get an even coating with and I've grown quite fond of it for that simple reason.

ICD7, squeeze it out, bolt down heatsink.

You're just lazy. :P

I usually spread it over with a razor blade nice and thin anyway to get an even coating, who you calling lazy, lazy?

wow.. i just realized something..

my current rig must be severely too hot.. because it literally warms my room up when i leave it on..

i have had it for like 3 years maybe four.. it has an AMD 3800 processor and a readon x800 graphics card

Edit: the sound on this pc has been very iffy lately.. really i think i need to reformat the whole rig (but not exactly sure how to)
The mobo is an Asus A8n-sli deluxe.. mg291-1
Anyone know how i could reinstall its sound drivers? i think that might be the issue i don't know

Hmm, for some reason when ever i see a computer that heats up the room it seems like the power supply is making most of the heat... does the air seem really hot coming out of the psu? Especially if the air coming out of the normal exhaust fan on the back of the case isn't all that hot? A 3800 and an x800 doesn't seem like it would be too hot...
