Actually, polobunny might be right. Do you have it connected to an internal or external USB port? I had one that had an adapter so you could connect it right to the USB headers on the motherboard and they said you had to switch the two black wires around to make it work correctly on certain motherboards (which happened to be the case with my mobo).
