The HIS dual slot cooler is a nice addition as you said, and it's not very noisy too. Since it's higher clocked out of the box than other X1950 Pro you get a few more frames (the X1950 Pro from HIS comes dangerously close to a X1900XT!)
PowerCooler.. ewww, ugly heatsinks/covers too.

The x1x50PRO is supposed to be almost the same card as the x1x00XT as far as I can tell from previous cards (x1650pro = x1600XT)

One word of advice for you. Skip the x1300 series. I have the x1300pro and its not worth it >.<'' Of course, I got mine for free so its somewhat better but still not worth buying. I would suggest getting the x1650XT for $130 or the x1950PRO for $160/$200($180 after HIS rebate)

Or if you wanna go with nVidia then the eVGA 7600GT is a wonderful card to go with! One of the best bang for the buck mid-end nVidia cards :)

why is it when a new processor comes out all the last gen stuff is "so slow?" granted the C2D line is very fast and i recommend it for new builds, the X2 series is still pretty capable. just under a year ago it was THE processor to have.

the X2 series is a great way to go if your on a strict budget however if you have a bit more to spend, C2D is the way to go.

yes you can run AM2 processors on AM2+ and i think its viscaversa however the AM2+ processor will only run HTT 1.0 (2000m/t) instead of HTT 3.0. (5600m/t i think)

im also going to continue the trend of devils advocate here by saying whats the need for quad core as of now? programs that take advantage of dual core are just coming to the market yet alone quad core. sure in three or four years when most programs are written for quad core you will see the advantages however will you be running the same chip for that long?

at any rate i would go with the MSI K9N Diamond because of the integrated Sound Bluster Audigy SE. and THIS Antec TruePower Trio 550 550W Power Supply

As an FYI, Sapphire produced the BBA (Built By ATI) retail branded line back when ATI still sold cards under their own name...

I'm all about maximizing my spent money. Never said the AMD's were slow. Just pointing out the s775 offers the best upgrade path. Differing opinions which give the membership as much information as possible is a good thing.

I was under the impression that AMD will have to switch sockets for Quad core while Intel will remain 775 for the large majority of it's quads. Thus, my concern for future upgradability. I'm neither AMD nor Intel dedicated, so I could care less about brand. It's all about money and how long my investment will survive.

about being cheap. If you want to buy a cheap cpu, get the 3600+. The brisbane cores overclock like mad! and they are dirt cheap!

I already have the processor. Sorry but I personally have had too many problems with Intel. I've had nothing but great luck with AMD. So I'm sticking with them. I appreciate the help on the vid cards to. I'll probably be going with the 1950gt. I'll just have to wait and see. It will be the last thing I pick up. Just got a smokin deal on a week old Antec TruePower Trio 550. I gave $20 for it from a buddy of mine. It's perfect for the 900. And I do plan a few small mods for that as well. You'll just have to wait and see.

I almost forgot... I will also be getting a new TV. It will be doubling as my bedroom TV and monitor. It's a 26in wide screen LCD flat. It even has a built in slot loading DVD. It's even already set up for computer use. I hope to have it by the end of this week.

I almost forgot this little goody also.

I got this from the same buddy for $10 also! Now my build will have a little bling factor to it also.
