I wanted to utilise the PCI-E 2.0 slots on the board plus the native support for the 45nm processors is good for me as im not very confident with matters of the cpu.

i would have chosen a x38 however i didnt see any that appealed to me and im going under the premise that i wont be changing the cpu or mobo for a while.

I'd go with the corsair, myself. Should be a good, quiet psu, and plenty powerful to boot. Just not too sure about the Be Quiet psu, to be honest.

You can probably cool the 8800GT passively with the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1, you should look into that over the Akimbo.
I would also choose the Corsair PSU over that Be Quiet one. And I would also take Polobunny's advice and look into the new 45nm quad cores rather than the 65nm Q6600. They will run cooler and have more cache. But if those are hard to find or too expensive, you could look into dropping down to an E8400 or something (I would recommend a fast dual core over a medium speed quad core right now).

Hmm I'm not sure about passive, but I know there's plenty of coolers, including the Accelero S1 when paired with low noise fans that are practically silent.

It will run a little warm, but ECS seems confident enough in its performance to make such a part. It would probably do better with some real TIM under it and good mounting, especially in a case with decent airflow. Here is another long discussion about cooling the 8800GT with a passive Accelero S1...

Thx Guys well im off to get the corsair and the other thing i wondered was i couldent find the dimensions for the 8800 gt as in size as it is going in quite a small case... hence kinda ruling out the accelero s1.

I understand what you are trying to say, but personally I never liked running my GPU in the 80's and frankly, none of us know the lifespan of a GPU always running that hot either.
As for a case with decent airflow, you're kinda negating the point of having a passive cooler (so you don't have noise) on your GPU if you need more fans in your case :P
It's cheap though, cheaper than most if not all other VGA cooling solutions that fit a 8800 card.
I'm happy with my VF1000 LED. The speed control is awesome, and although I like to make it spin faster when playing games, it's far from necessary. Big bucks for a VGA cooler though, at around $50 US shipped... :|

That's true, I'll give you that. But it doesn't seem too far out of the norm of what I've seen a lot of video cards running at these days.

Well, what I meant with decent airflow was at least two 120mm fans and clean wiring, doesn't have to be anything extreme.

The price is one of its strongest points. Since it is so cheap, you can easily get the Turbo Module for it (or some other fan of your choice) and make it a very quiet active cooler. I've tested the turbo module myself and it is extremely quiet, I was very impressed.
