As mentioned above, put a large pot of water on the stove and boil it, pretty much the same idea as a humidifier

Heres another thing I would do if I were in your situation.
I would unplug everything from your machine,power cord,KB,mouse absolutly everything. Then, hold the power button in for 3 minutes...with it all unplugged,from what M$ support and HP tell me, this is how you de-static your machine.It may help save your pc,even if it does nothing,it would be worth going thru the motions. Next as was well pointed out, you need to get some moisture in the air. Matters not how. As suggest mist the carpets or for that matter boil a few pots of water on the stove. Place wet towels in front of heater registers.
