thats what I ended up doing.... stick with the drivers that are working for the LAN... and take that disc and throw it back in the box. Use the latest drivers from the Asus website (except the LAN drivers) as they will be much newer than what is on that disc.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I second that!!! The disk is good for getting you up and running, but it's always best to use the most current updates from the website. This goes for all hardware.

Yes, sorry. I reinstalled Vista. Vista found the connection using my router to a cable modem with no issues. Must be an issue with the drivers for the Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernets. I installed the GPU drivers, all good. I am skipping whats on the asus mobo DVD for now. Dont want to F with anything yet. I will go to the hardware sites to get all updates, then check out recommended software on HL. I need to get a malware program up and will stick with the windows firewall for now until I learn more.

I want to oc the E8400 at some point and I need to check the latency on the RAM. But right now I am psyched this internet issue is resolved. Machine is running pretty quick now. Cant wait to tinker a bit.

good to hear stevie!

I had the exact same problem on both my GA-965P-DS3 and my GA-EP35-DS3 boards and reinstalling Vista was the only fix in both cases

Well thanks for speaking up 10 pages ago, damn Captain, you're usually on top of this stuff.

it was so minor and I figured it was something specific to my case so thats why I did not mention it earlier... at least someone else may be able to go through the steps here and fix a problem they are having with their Vista internet connection.

I noticed that Vista is only seeing one HD.

Do I need to go into bios and set to raid?

There is an intel matrix program on the asus mobo dvd that is to be for a raid set up...try it?

And, should I raid 1? The data on my HD is more important to me than pure performance. I have a 250 gig with my os on it. and the 500 is the one not showing.

For RAID 1 both HDDs must be the same size. Right Click my computer, click Manage, click storage, Disk Management (local snap-in), see if the drive shows up in there. You can format it from there.
