Do you plan on overclocking this system? If not, then DDR2-800 RAM is more than enough.

I want to OC it. I play in a league for BF2 PRM which is heavy RAM/GPU from what I have read. Also, COD4 and such.

I have played BF2 and COD4 on this system (in my sig) with great results, even when I had DDR2-675, so anything DDR2-675 and 2GB or higher should be fine, especially with that build.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

If you're taking the motherboard I recommended, neither will work and could damage the board. If you can't find any decent DDR2-1200 RAM, then look for some 1066 RAM, like some Corsair XMS2

Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

At the absolute worst get some DDR-800.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe @ 2.80GHz
Cooler Master GeminII - Thanks Rich and HL!
GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 (rev. 1.3)
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB @ 726/962
CORSAIR XMS2 4GB (4 x 1GB) DDR2-800
OCZ GameXStream 600W PSU
Maxtor 300GB 7200RPM SATA150 16MB cache HDD
Seagate 500GB 7200ROM SATA300 16mb cache HDD
Sony NEC Optiarc 18X DVD±R DVD
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1
ZyXel m-202 802.11g adapter
Antec Nine Hundred
Creative 5.1 speakers
Viewsonic Optiquest q20wb 20" LCD

For the Mobo, I was looking for the x48 instead of x38...from what I read here on HL.

@panda-I like that Ram and price...

@screwball-good point, those games should all show tons of improvement for me.

@stinger-I will check out the Asus....I love Asus...Have a g2-b1 laptop.

I want to future proof a bit as my current system did very well, and still is ok, for the last 5 years, with some tweaks/upgrades.

that Asus optical looks like a decent drive. I may have to remember that one for when I need to replace my HP drive, as I do use Lightscribe on occasion.

Yes... Yes you like it... You love it.... You love Corsair, you want their RAM. You know you do! :P

On a serious note, the x48 is good but every board I've seen it priced pretty high. :\

I don't see any urgency to get an X48 based motherboard. A P35 based board would do you just fine and there is a lot more to choose from and at better prices too.
