| Colonel Calamity | from previous posts it appears that he has at least 4-6 times now blake... the only other thing I can think of is reset the IP on the other computer on his network or completely reinstall Vista which worked for me. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Hi Blake, yeah, did that, a lot. Dumped Vista and reinstalled. Windows is updating and I was able to go to internet so I think all is ok. I surfed a bit. I am going to proceed, cautiously, and reload everything. SHOULD I LOAD VISTA SP1 NOW? Did not show up in the initial windows updates. PS, Thank you for all the advice here...and the high amount of patience with me. | Colonel Calamity | I wish I knew what it was about these Marvell Yukon gigabit connections that were causing this... 3 different boards, same LAN chip, same problem.... ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | I'd suggest waiting until it shows up under automatic updates. There are several suggested pre-requisites to SP1, and not all of them show up at once. Install, load up Windows Update, click 'Check for Updates', rinse and repeat. Eventually, SP1 shows up. |

| Colonel Calamity | thats what I hate about Windows and love about Linux... with linux you can get all updates available at once and you're completely updated. With Windows you need to download, install, restart, download, install, restart... I have had some installs that required 8 visits to WU just to get all the required (and some suggested or driver) updates. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Interesting. I check the Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet under device manager after the new install, and all drivers are there. I load up my mobo dvd to install other drivers, and it has the option to install drivers there for the Marvell. Think that could have caused conflicts?
