Have you tried a different cat5 cable?

yes, tried diff cables. I did get your pm to unistall windows. I guess that is my only option?

No it's an option, that may or maynot fix it. I still think it's some type of driver issue. Something is preventing your computer from getting an IP, I just can't figure out what. Try entering an IP manually and see if it shows up in the router control panel.

I had this exact same issue with my first Vista install on my main system... as soon as Vista was completely reinstalled fresh, it worked perfectly every time from that point on.

There you have it. I would at least try it. Worse case, you're right back to where you started.

nope, the same way you did it before... format the drive before installing

As I was beginning this a box popped up on the new build...

Windows has detected an IP address conflict...says that another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer???

may help to go to other computers and see which one has the same IP... then to the ipconfig /release and renew thing I mentioned earlier (on that other computer)
