| LOOONG week. Had a mountain biking accident and yet another Corneal Abrasion...yeah. So with my one good eye I am trying to fix something. MY new build is up, runs great BUT. But, I can not get this to get an internet connection. I use a DLink Dir 655 with cable modem and even with skipping the DLink and hooking up to the modem I can not get this to easily connect. Any advice or links you can guide me to? I have done some googling, and tried some advice I found, but nothing is working. HELP! Thank you in advance, StevieRay NEW BUILD thanks to HL: ![]() Asus Maximus Formula x38 E8400 3.0 GHz EVGA 8800 GTS (G92) 512 mb KO 678 GHz Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500 gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 250 gb 4GB OCZ Reaper HPC DDR2 Corsair 650 TX Cooler Master RC 690 Vista Ultimate 64 |

| Thanks HItman for replying. Do I need a network card for the new mobo? I am an idiot. The mobo doesnt take care of that? I did not get a network card in my new system. Just checked, I did download the Marvell Yukon Ethernet drivers. I tried with the latest and then reverted to the last oldest version. | Colonel Calamity | You can try the CD that came with the mobo, sometimes they have all in one drivers that usually say mobo drivers or chipset drivers and sometimes they include the LAN drivers as well. Otherwise download from here: This driver LINK works for Vista and XP, 32 and 64bit If it all seems that it should be connecting and Vista is saying Local connection only, try this: unplug your modem, unplug any router or switch that this PC may be connected to, turn off computer. Wait 2 minutes. Plug in modem and wait for connection lights to come on and stop blinking. Plug in router or switch and wait 1 minute. turn on computer. Sometimes Vista needs a complete reset of the network and internet connection to connect properly. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Ok, I tried that fix 2 x and nothing worked. I have tried to install teh DLINK router disk and it can not find the network adapter to get started. I have tried using Network Magic and that could not get it going either. Vista does not seem to be able to connect beyond the local network. Wow, I am puzzled. | Thanks RAID, trying that. OK, I have Drivers/Chipset/ then INF? Then there is a file Vista and another file called x64, but does not say vista? I am going to run the Asus InstAll from the mobo and see if that can get a fix. | Colonel Calamity | sometimes I found it takes Vista up to 5-10 minutes to realize it is connected to the internet... try my method I mentioned above ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |
