Here is a guide (towards the bottom of the post) to upgrade your Maximus Formula to Rampage Formula bios. The two boards are physically identical. Do not attempt this if you are not comfortable with messing with bios upgrades. You could ruin your Motherboard,

Well, she runs. But dont know what is going on with start up. I made the optical the boot priority. Loaded Vista in it. But keep getting stuck in the hard drive area of vista install. I was trying to go raid instead of IDE. The Hd's are sata. But I keep getting stuck.

Just read that vista has a hard time loading on a brand new drive? Anyone have a work around? ugh.

Hmmm, well looking at your sig. You have 4GB of memory.
Take one of the 2gb sticks out and then install Vista, Vista for some reason has a hard time installing itself with 4GB of memory in.
Just install it with one 2GB stick, then install all the board drivers, video drivers and do windows update. Once you've done that, you can put the second 2GB stick back in, and you good!

QFT! That's almost certainly the issue. Grrrr, I hate that problem with vista.

Hope that fixes it for ya.

Hmmm, I wouldn't say that the RAM has anything to do with the hard drives....
when your setting up your hard drive in vista, make sure to format them before you install, theres a button for that.

But other than that, taking out one 2GB stick should do the trick.

Well, the thing is, it's probably not your hard drives causing the problem at all. It's just a known (although easily forgotten... i know I always do when I actually go to install) issue with vista that installing with 4 gigs of ram causes all sorts of issues.

That was it, didnt do the format. Did that with the 4gb in, and it worked. Installing drivers now. THANK YOU!
