That should work, but let's let others confirm it eh?

You know, back in the day, I thought HTPC meant Hyper-Threading PC, aka requiring a P4 w/ HT Tech... Lol.

All you need is an RCA to 3.5mm mini-jack cable (can be had at Radio Shack or just about anywhere, very common).
Click the image to open in full size.
You just plug the mini-jack (the headphone looking plug) into the line out (green) audio port on your computer then plug in the red and white RCA plugs to its corresponding color on the back of the device. Sometimes you need to switch it to "auxiliary" or something to get it to spit out the audio from that source, but that's all you need!

If he's using the Bose thingy as speakers, then yeah it'll work. But that also requires the fact if his 10 year old Bose thingy has RCA inputs.

I'd say chances are very good that it will have these inputs. They are very standard and haven't changed for as long as I can remember.

Well that picture from the back of those bose is from a new one. Now if you had read my original post, you would have discovered that my model is much older than the one i linked to, so consequently i have a different assortment of inputs and different styling, much like below
Click the image to open in full size.
and i have this lower base thing that has lots of inputs and outputs on it, although on the stereo itself also has about 4 to 8 ports on the back near the antenna. Id like to take a picture, but as i am in a different city, its a bit difficult to do so. If i recall correctly it has - aux in an out, mic in and out, and something else.

As for primary use, im planning on buying a larger LCD TV(read 42"), given that i can make the monies for it, and then the computer would be a secondary thing (if i had cash left over, doubtful but possible) that way my primary focus is on movies, i think we have 400 or so, ill try to get a photo of the collection. So yea thats what im thinking.

That's what you need right there, and what the picture from a few posts up shows
