| You know ... I agree ... if it isn't a budget issue ... the 8800GT is hands down the better card and a great deal ... however I don't think at twice the price it has twice the value. That is just me ... I would rather spend the cash on a Good Mobo, CPU, Ram, PS and Case ... and cut just a tad off of the video ... The video card will simply need to be changed out at some time ... it takes a depreciation hit very fast ... Again that is just me ... I typically buy last years best cards ... every year ... and buy the games that have the best online community ... which takes time to develop. | By the way ... I think everything on my list above is listed with Free shipping and a Super high Newegg rating ... best prices I have seen on those items for some time and some even have rebates with solid reputable companies that actually honor rebates. |

| Thats a very viable point, tech. I guess it depends on your budget as well. If you can budget in the 8800gt, as well as all the other stuff, that is what i would personally recommend. However, another viable route is to get an eVGA 8600gt with plans to use the step-up program, and 60-days later, when the price on 8800gt's is down, step-up to it. the cost of the 8600gt - 8800gt future price = pretty cheap for a nice performance boost down the road ![]() Just thinkin out loud |

| Colonel Calamity | based on previous recommendations, if you will be using a 32-bit OS (and not a 64-bit OS) then the 4GB will be too many problems. for a 2GB memory kit I suggest this: LINK - CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2-800 For $42.00 after mail in rebate and promo $5 off the $5 needs promo code EMCBCBJCG Also the Antec nine hundred case is $59.99 after rebate and promo Promo code: EMCBCBJDF ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |
