okie, so to say i'm better off with single video card rather than running SLI?

Yes, buy a good video card, and stick with a single card solution......Unless you are running a large monitor with all the settings set as high as possible, you won't notice much difference, unless you are benchmarking.
I'd be willing to bet that we could line up five systems of varying specs, and people couldn't tell the slightest difference between a $1500 system and a $2500 system
