Yea, I actually read on one of the newegg reviews for a 650i that his ram needed 2.1v and it defaulted to 1.8v, and he was still able to boot. BSOD all the time though, until he adjusted the voltage.

***UPDATE***

Nearly all the parts have arrived, the ones that haven't made it are unimportant. Now, I'm paranoid about hooking new PSUs to new any hardware, so I always test them before I hook them. I hooked up 3 fans and the cold cathode that arrived, ran it for 10 minutes and it works fine. However, as I was shorting it out I noticed that pin 18 on the 20 pin connector is missing. I'll post a picture when I get home, I have a shot of it, just no way to move it to a comp and post it. Do any of you think this would cause a problem? I'm probably just paranoid and for all I know all PSUs are missing that pin and I just now realized it, but I'm not sure.

That seems normal nowadays with many of the newer power supplies - there was another thread about this somewhere a little while back - it's all good from what I can tell - you should be fine. Especially if it's working with your testing.

Good luck!

Which DDR3 set-up should I use in my new build? HELP!

I figured as much, just never noticed it until now. Thanks for confirming that, I always get nervous when using a new PSU, no matter who the manufacturer is, and always test them.

I don't know either - maybe not to complicate things so damn much to cause motherboard manufacturers remove a pin for reproduction, or some stupid rerouting or special protection stuff - just add 2 extra plastic pieces that cant be damaged and call it a day...

Then again it's never that simple...:P

Well either way I have it all together and fully functional. It scared me the first time it booted, on, then off, then on again but without the HSF spinning, then the HSF span up.... either way its not doing that anymore, I guess that was a first boot thing Its rock solid, but I do have on question:

In the BIOS, it detects my cpu with a host frequency of 200MHz and a multiplier of 8, which should give me 1600MHz correct? Well in windows my CPU is properly detected at a E6420. Is this normal? I'm going to still flash the BIOS though.

You got an E6320 didn't you? That is very strange indeed. What does CPU-Z say about it? It should be 266x7 for a core speed of about 1.86GHz.

No I stepped up to a E6420 The multiplier is good, but the clock sped in BIOS is odd. In windows its detected properly

Oh and CPU-z see it as both kinda, screenshot on the way. All looks fine in windows. Bios is F10, I'm going to flash to F11.

Click the image to open in full size.

And I just gave it the Company of Heroes test :D Guys, I think I might die from the beauty. I just can't handle it!

EDIT2 - I went back into the BIOS and now I know for a fact that I'm worrying over nothing, I disabled the graphical POST screen (looks fugly to me anyways) and watch it as it POSTed, its detecting the cpu and frequency properly and was set to auto detect host frequency in the BIOS. When that was set it would just stay at 200MHz not matter what, and since the F11 BIOS was the one that supposedly added the E6420 support and I have F10, I figured that may be the problem. Pictures SOON!

EDIT3 - I also see SMARTfan control is useless, I disabled and my 100% load temps have gone from 61C to 52 C.
