I have WoW sitting in it's case on my shelf. Played the 30 days free, and it's been there since. Diablo 2 on the other hand is running in the background. Thats my opinion.

Woot! All hail all that is not WoW! Heh, if WoW keeps this crap up, it'll kill off a portion of the population in Asia; game "sweatshops" being so popular ^^.

Nah, WoW has brought a huge profit and new meaning to the goldfarming companies and epic level item resellers.
A great way to troll WoW players is to mention the superiority of Guild Wars and how you're not paying 15 dollars a month for the same raids.

Well, since WoW's their ace, they have every right to do so. IMO, anyway. It's like sports - you have your star(s) and then the supporting cast. Until supporting cast displays amazing talent, you're going to stick with your top-dogs. It's strategy, and, similarly, the consumers are the George Steinbrenner's. They're going to do what they can to please us.

Blizzard is due to release Starcraft 2 sometime or another, and another Diablo afterwards. Maybe even a World of Blizzard with Zerg vs Horde vs Trapassin/Hammerdin/Howling Barb action. Yeah right

To be fair to WoW, Guild Wars isn't even on the same level as WoW is. Sure, ArenaNet labels Guild Wars as an MMO, but in the purest sense of the genre, it is not. What makes WoW so popular is its simplicity and accessibility. If you don't beleive me, look at the myriad of MMO's that have been released since WoW. Vanguard, EverQuest 2, LOTRO, Dungeons and Dragons, etc. etc. None of them match WoW in popularity and all use a little bit of WoW in their games, be it GUI, combat system, skill system, etc.

I bet that's glorious! I actually wish I could partake of the experience. Still not quite worth the subscription. You guys think that with Blizzard's heightened cash cache that Starcraft II will be bereft of the typical bugs / problems that are usually forced to be in most games?

The biggest flaw I found was the player base..either they try to diss you in broken l33t and typos, think your stupid enough to get your account stolen, ditch you in the middle of a campaign, or just take the game way too seriously like Everquest players. It's the same flaw though that made me stop playing Guild Wars, so don't think I favor one over the other.
WoW was alright when it came out, but due to it's popularity all new MMO's are the same thing relabeled which kills the competition of innovativeness. Which is why the only game I'd ever pay to play is EVE Online.
This is like a Marvel vs DC scenario, though... it really comes down to taste.

The original EQ was serious though, and players had to be serious playing it. For example, death and dying had real implications rather than just stat loss, temporary rez sickness, or armor repairs like other MMO's do it nowadays. Death in EverQuest meant a corpse run, regardless of where you died, (think North Temple of Veeshan, or God forbid, the PoH or PoF where you would have re-pops). This in addition to substantial experience loss; if you weren't careful, you could de-level in EQ.

EverQuest made players reflect on their actions, made them reflect on every decision they made. This is something that I intensely miss with MMO's of today, where your actions, behavior, and choices are not quite as punishing as EQ was; it's really a watered down inconvenience. With EQ though, you were acutely aware of everything you did. Because if you weren't, you paid for your ignorance dearly.

This is why when you grouped or raided in EQ, you could pretty much depend on the person next to you. Because they knew, just as you did, that you did not want to die in EQ, no matter the cost. This made people in EverQuest better (do I daresay excellent) players, and in the end, better gamers in the MMO genre.

While I do agree with you, in the end it's just a game and some people just take it to far. I used to be cussed out extensively over D2 cause I was more into enjoying the game, sorry for actually wanting to play for fun. And we had our fair share of corpse runs, dying in a place like the Worldstone Keep on Hell mode then having to go in un-equipped relying on whoever was with you...but it was fun. But we're really not arguing a point here, I tend to enjoy a game rather then grind for 12 hours to get one item to increase my geek points, some people like getting everything there is. Just different gamers with different tastes.
