*grabs torch and pitchfork* Down with Alienware and all related companies!

Speaking of nifty laptops, my girlfriend's father just ordered a sweet gaming laptop from Toshiba. It's damn nice. It even has a sub woofer in the bottom of it. I've yet to hear such great quality music from a lappy. I haven't been able to see it run many games, but I'm sure it'll run pretty nice. It's sporting some kind of nVidia SLI setup. I think it's got two Turbo Cache cards in SLI. For some reason it's claiming between 512 and 1gb of video memory. It's fishy to me, but we can't seem to get exact specs on the cards inside. I think it's 2x 256TC SLI cards. But I know if I ever had to buy another laptop, I'd certainly go with one of those.

I've seen (and held) that exact laptop you're talking about Noctis. You are right, it is damn nice. Only problem is that it's one heavy SOB.

3 lbs lighter than my laptop =\

Are you familiar with what the video card specs are, exactly, garetjax? I haven't procured the identification information to look it up myself, yet. Just wondering if you knew off hand.

Would it happen to be a variant of this?

Qosmio® Laptop Computers from Toshiba

Built in sub and such, but I didn't see any specifics that would make me call it a "gaming laptop"

I don't, no. If I had to guess, I would say either a 8600M or 8800M series videocard(s). If you want, you may want to pose your question HERE.

We are going to invest like crazy in product development, design and engineering to propel Alienware as the premier gaming brand in the future. XPS gaming systems will remain an important part of our gaming product portfolio. We don’t plan an early phase-out of these systems as the WSJ incorrectly stated, and in fact will continue to refresh them to keep them on the front edge of gaming...
