| Colonel Calamity | with that in mind Paul, I wonder if it isn't a county or state law.... ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| HL's Technomancer | When I lived in Florida, I was in Levy county just a little south of Gainesville, and all we ever had was 70% so it may just be a state or by county law. Up here in Maine, the most common is 91%. |

| Yep, I usually get the 91%, it's the highest concentration they sell around here... I used to get the 70% and it got the job done, but ideally greater than 90% is good. E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB |

| OK, back to the build questions - everything is now in the case, so it's time to connect everything. First question - I'm using the modular Corsair 620HX. It's got three leads - a 24 pin, and 8 pin, and a 4 pin. I plugged the 24 into the mobo, but noted that the mobo had an 8 pin receptor with 4 pins covered up. I popped off the cover and plugged in the 8 pin - 8 must be better than 4, right? Now what do I do with the 4 pin? Its hard-wired into the PSU so I can't unplug it. Do I just tie it up out of harm's way somewhere? Did I do the right thing with the 8 pin vs the 4 pin? |

| Thanks onebxr. Next question - my Thermaltake Armor case has 5 fans. The mobo has four power leads for fans. What to do with last fan? Run it directly from PSU? Does mobo control fans as temps rise, or are they all manually adjusted? I know Thermaltake makes a 4-channel fan controller that I can pick up at Radio Shack for $27. Is that something I might need? |

| Colonel Calamity | most mobos should control the fan as ambient temp rises but some boards simply supply power so they run full speed all the time.... depends on the board. A separate fan controller wouldn't hurt so you can turn it up during heavy usage and then back down when its not needed. In my case since I have it running under load 24/7 I just leave them on the mobo or PSU oh and sorry I didn't mean to hijack the thread earlier ![]() ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Colonel Calamity | speedfan does not work for all systems and fans... with my systems it can read the speed but not control them ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |
