| HL's Technomancer | Yes, you'd have to go with a LGA 775 motherboard. Like I said, I don't know the prices in Australia so I'm trying to see if it would be worth it to go Core 2 instead of AMD. If you can't get the 8800GT or 3870 then the GTS 320 is still a powerful GPU, but the formers cost less and deliver more performance. Do you have any experience with overclocking? If not, or if you don't want too, then the 6000+ seems like the better buy. |

| Just clarifying, Is the intel chip better only if you overclock it? What would be better as stock. | Another benefit of going with a Core 2 Duo chip is that Intel has some really awesome OC'ing chipsets out there as compared to alot the offerings for AMD proc's (I'm thinking of the 965/P35 if you're not commited to having SLi and 680i if you are). So unless you're really set on AMD at this point in time, Intel is definitely worth a good hard look, and I can say confidently that you won't be dissappointed. And even if overclocking isn't on your agenda, Intel has a pretty solid upgrade path as far as support for their newer chips and AMD's support is shaky at best. I'm sorry if I sound like I'm discouraging you from AMD, it's just that Intel really has a ton going for itself these days. I myself have always had an AMD chip in the past but there's some things you just can't turn a blind eye to. C2D is one of those things. | Well, he doesn't want/know what overclocking is.. so it would be best for the one which is better without OC'ing it. | Silence..Or I kill you! | In lieu of the fact that he would have to change motherboards, I am to assume he will have to go with the AMD chip for his budget. You might want to take a look at the 6400 black edition, yes it is a windsor, and 90nm technology, but all the reviews on this chip are pretty damn good at stock settings. Seriously hugh jump in performance from the 6000!!!! Just a thought. |

| hellow and welcome to HL.... they are pursuing you to have an Intel Box not because its capable of awesome OC but the same price the Stability can be guaranteed, and sooner or later you would venture to the arts of OC... AMD is just sinking titanic right now.... how much is the E6750 there? that could be better... and with it comes to mobo, you could get Gigabyte they are offering a relatively low pricing over their mobos'...
