I have seen the "On-Board" 6100 in action. I like the set-up very well.JM.02

Trust me man, you aren't going to want to play ANY games on either of those IGP's (Integrated Graphics Processor)! You can read my review of the DFI RS482 Infinity that also features an X300 based IGP. Gaming on prettymuch any onboard graphics is a waste of time. Even a 7300GT would be a worthwile upgrade over onboard X300 or 6100 graphics.

And if you need a CPU heatsink, just poke around the HL Boneyard or make a request and I'm sure someone will be able to help a brotha' out!

This kids not running it at full settings. That's the difference.

Dunno, I don't think either matters. Lets see.

My testing of that board did not involve "full settings". Tests were run at 1024x768 resolution or less with no AA or AF enabled. Just trust me on this one, gaming with that onboard video is going to be practically worthless. There is no such thing as a $300 gaming computer unless you are playing Tetris and Solitaire.

And I'm not trying to portray that. This kid's not playing mainstream games if he's playing anything.

You're running at 1024x768 at max quality. Yes, that's a little rough. I'm saying like 800x600 at low/medium. And on top of that, in some BS game. He doesn't play HL2 or FEAR. He's a redneck (sorry). He wants to play Deer Hunter.

LOL, again, I wasn't at max quality! But I suppose you will have the onboard video no matter what so I guess it's worth a shot to see how it goes. If it work, great! If not, then it will be easy to upgrade the video later on if they find it necessary...

I would definitely recommend against the integrated graphics, its a wasye of time for anything but the most basic computing

INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU

Whatever, I'm going with that combo and that HSF you linked to Paul.

Total. $286 shipped. Haha, nothing really changed. :). I'll convince him at least on a 120GB/160GB HD. Not really necessary. Let's see what he says, eh?

Go for it, you'll do it your way anyway!
Just playin with ya man, it sounds like any of your alternatives will probably work fine, so good luck and I hope you win the bid!

Yeah, and with a X2 3600+, that system is open for upgrade.

Sorry, wrong system choice. $291 shipped. Still godly for the price.

I hope I do win the bid too for the sake of my friend. The other guy's a dumbass for even considering a $10 PSU.
