If you get too caught up in the waiting game, you'll still be playing on what you currently have for the next 5 years.

The limitations facing the processor manufacturers now are going to force them into different directions here soon. Some folks predict that multi-core CPU's are on the horizon for the next 10 years, and they very well might be, but I can't help but feel like we are going to see a paradigm shift in technology over the next decade that will take us away from what we currently hold true about how CPU and GPU's are made.

i really wanna see amd come back. theyve always been my favourite, and inside they always will be!

i want to see them release something bigger, cheaper, faster, and more efficient than intel! come on amd u can do it!!!

in any case the new CPUs in august will be killer!

Which DDR3 set-up should I use in my new build? HELP!

A 3800 X2 shouldn't be that much of a bottleneck, especially at higher resolutions. Speaking of which, what resolution will you be gaming at? If you want to upgrade something now, then the 8800GTS 320MB would be the way to go. Otherwise, waiting for a total system upgrade like Rich mentioned would be the way to go. Upgrading DDR at this point is prettymuch a waste of money.

I was going to say, at the end of April when the C2d's drop in price, grab an E6300/6400 with a GA-965P-DS3 mobo and 2GB Ram, everything else should port over. You're looking at $300-400 for a major upgrade, especially from a plain low level dualcore 3800+

end of april gives you 2 months to save up

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I play at 1280x1024.

I currently have about 220 dollars.

I'm not to keen on selling my whole rig right now to upgrade to C2D and moving will mostly likely cost over 500 dollars CAD.

If you're not ready to make the C2D switch (which I agree, would be the ideal route for your system), I would suggest 2 x 1GB Dual-channel kit RAM (goodness) and an aggressive OC on your current 3800+.

After some thought I think that a videocard upgrade would do me the most good. I am not in the best situation to go to core 2 right now and I am certainly not going to sell my hardware.

u have 220 already save up for the next 2 full months and go all out.

price drops are gonna be awesome, and even E6600 would be a really great chip to grap. C2Q if u can afford it though unless u wanna be conservative and wait for AMDs offering!!!

ok... more savings. If I'm going to C2D I'm not going in with cheap stuff.
