Why not go for a 45nm quad core instead? They should be available in a matter of weeks... As for coolers, I would go for the ZeroTherm Nirvana, Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, or Noctua NH-U12P.

Yep, Q9300 is 45nm quad. Which is why I want to grab a cheap C2D while i wait for my C2Q to be released. :P

Oh, sorry, I didn't see you mention the Q9300
I would say just wait for the Q9300 to come out as it shouldn't be too long (unless you want an E2140 just to play with or something).

Q9300 is announced for end of Feb, start of March. That is definitely too far away, sadly.
See my other thread in General computing for suggestions. :)

To be honest, I want a quad core, just for the sake of it. Also because folding@home would likely take a boost, and i'm a strong supporter of it. Actually, I hesitated a few times buying a PS3 just for that... Call me crazy if you want.
179.99 sure is tempting, but yeah... I'm a geek, to the core dude, to the core. :P

i'm folding with my PS3 and it runs with no issues at all. I tend to not fold with my comps (mainly cause my PS3 isn't in my room and my comp is lol, fans too noisy to sleep with on)

I'm silencing mine so it's all good. :)
I'd fold with my PS3, if I had the money to own one. >__>
