I agree completely Paul! I hope Phenom is at least competitive with the highest end Core 2's. I think it was a debacle of major proportions when the 2900XT came out and was battling the 8800GTS and not the GTX like it should have been. High end, flagship graphics product, but it didn't even try to be the best? Not good at all.

What I do appreciate is it seems there are a lot of people who understand that whoever they are running now, it is best for all of us that there are TWO companies producing CPUs.

To agree with something else here - that ATI acquisition is certainly a "long term" thing, because so far it hasn't seemed to do much for either company.

Can't have Intels current position without AMDs innovations (stolen AMD64 anyone?). I do think the ATi acquisition played a large part in the current state in the CPU and GPU market on their side but also I seriously hope that they jump back in with both feet. I would like to see the Phenoms available at the end of 08 to compete with Intels best. Same with the video cards. Will be nice to see if they can pull out a strong DX10.1 to compete come late 08 as well.
