Yeah, that Black Box Edition Processor is kindof old news, this better not be the big surprise from AMD. If so, I'm just gonna pretend it was the HD 2900Pro instead!

well the Black Edition X2 5000 is available at newegg for $129.99. not a bad price for a budget chip with unlocked multi's. again my gut feeling is it will be a decent "tweener" chip for those people out there waiting for phenom. however i still feel that C2D is the way to go for a new build.

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

Not a bad price, but I've really become ho-hum with regards to unlocked mulitipliers; I found them much more useful back before motherboards started handling memory dividers so well.

Did they release anything noteworthy back then?
If they did, it was a silent *poof* instead of a roar.

the HD2900PRO, basically an underclocked HD2900XT with a suggested price tag of $250 (most places are selling it for around $270 last time i checked) outperforms the 320mb 8800GTS for the most part. cool thing is, you can clock it back up to XT speeds (ymmv of course ;-) )
