that would be cool if AMD shocked the crap out of everyone and released the Phenom, but i agree with blake, its probably the end of the NDA.

btw i pronounce it feh-num just like i say phenomenal

It is all in context with proper english language...
phenomenal is feh-nahm-ehnal
but because of the way other similar words are said,
Phenom is fee-nom or "fee gnome"
If you listen to phenomenal in the UK English or more classic pronunciations, it is actually said like fee-nom-enul with that long O like "nom = gnome"

I suspect this announcement is Barcelona for the desktop.. there is an Opteron Barcelona found at newegg but I am not sure if that is part of the same release

or it could be the Radeon 3000 series with DX10.1 compatible hardware ready to knock the 8800s down to the bargain bins...

Thanks HL and Corsair!

The Barcelona at Newegg is the real deal, but Newegg has marked it up substantially due to all the hype. This is interesting though, I figured Phenom was going to be the Agena/Kuma cores coming out this winter, with the tri-core models following towards the spring. Perhaps they're just announcing AM3 and Phenom, or possibly the HD 2950XT refresh we're supposed to be seeing sometime around the Phenom launch. Theres also a 2900 Pro and 2600 X2 thats supposed to be on it's way.

Either way it's not "feh-nominal" to make the Venom thing work...unless some people pronounced it differently

In any case - AMD didn't shock me yet.
