I'll always recommend eVGA products, top of the line quality, good (but pain in the ass) warranty, excellent support forums, and good people.

I just need a proc and mobo now, and I've had those 2 picked out for a long time now and was going to see if anything has changed, that I should get something different, like that $20 upgrade on proc someone posted

And also this penguin will not be running Linux atleast at first, and I don't know if ever because of incompatabilities, i'll be running Windows XP whenever I get it up and running probably

So yeah, since I have all that other stuff, anyone change their mind?

CPU: get the E6750

Mobo: The mob you have picked out is pretty good, but I'd take a look at this: Newegg.com - ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

People have gotten some pretty good OC's on this board (and by pretty good I mean insane) If you don't like it, I'd get the one you already have picked out.

Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail

Dude... did you check the price on those? Respectively $280 and $300 US instead of $193 for the E6750 or $175 for the E6550.

Edit: By the way SlyPenguin0, have you considered the 8800GTS 320mb like I linked to?

I won't recommend Abit, for the motherboard look at the eVGA 6801 board, or if you don't plan on SLI, you might look at their 650i Ultra, which is a damn fine little board. Also on the short list, Gigabyte P3-DS3 or DQ6, or wait for a couple weeks until the INTEL X38 based boards are released.

The DS3 is a solid board, great with overclocking. Many users on the board sport one.

Like Capper said, the 680i is probably one of the best all around boards, also sporting SLI. It's a route to take if SLI is necessary, which doesn't really sound like it is.

- Core 2 Quad Q6600
- DFI Infinity 975X
- 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800
- 500GB WD 7200.10 Caviar GP + 250GB Seagate 7200.9RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM
- ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB
- Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W
- Acer 19" P191W Monitor
- Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution
- Vista Ultimate x64

Polo yeah i've known about that card and ive looked at your links and yeah its a kick butt card no doubt, but I already have the x1950 so I'm going with that for now

and no I'm not planning on doing SLI or Crossfire anytime soon

Capper, are you suggesting the original board I had picked out
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
is better than the abit one yello suggested?

Why won't you recommend Abit? Many people have gotten some mad OC's on their boards... Is it because of their customer support?
