| Lvl 1 College Student | Ok, update from yesterday (while I was out) Time Warner has something called a PACK (or PAC) department. They are "in charge" of our number. Nobody, not even Verizon, could reach them. So not only can we not cancel our shitty TW service, but nobody else can do anything about it. So my dad (as mentioned before) will call ATT or someone and try to get TW to release our godamn number. I wonder if the FCC would help speed-up the process |

There was a short period of time when certain companies would say you signed up with them and just change you over. Its not Verizon's fault - they have to wait for TW. And I suspect ATT will too. Manta | |

| Long before we ever saw Time Warner we had Adelphia. Most of us know the road Adelphia took, but we had great service and my Power Link wideband was great. With the demise of Adelphia in our area we wound up with Time Warner who also took over our long distance service. Life was good under Adelphia, however, I can see problems on the horizon. Time Warner along with AT&T managed to get the rather stupid Ohio legislature to pass legislation involving their responsibilities to their customers, effectively stripping the customer of rights. When you have a complaint, you will call a State toll free number where your complaint will fall on deaf ears. You need to wonder when to major forces who compete for the same business (cable TV) join forces to get a legislation (they wrote) passed. Generally when a cable company comes into an area (CATV & Broadband) they cut a deal with the city (community) they are in. The city in return gets roughly a 5% return of the take for CATV excluding broadband services. Beyond calling the provider with a problem you can generally call a city councilman (or representative) who is supposed to represent you. Good luck Zambini but I would also see if your city/town has a representative (generally on the cable advisory board). Ron |

| Or you can just stop using their services and say "to hell with them". Without customers, they don't exist. That is a big problem here in the states. These monopoly companies have the upper hand because people are addicted to their services. Break the addiction. And the problem will go away. And I don't ever use a service when they tell me to sign a contract of any kind! What needs to be done is local city and state government needs to do in part what they are paid to do. They need to lay down standards that companies like cable, telephone, and the like are held to. Unfortunately, that won't happen easily as most elected officials are warm and snug in the pockets of these companies. Ron | |

| What we want and what we need are two totaly diff things. We need companies that are going to treat us like CUSTOMERS and not like rabid dogs locked up in their cage! (Example) I don't need a cell phone but I want a cell phone. BUT I will NOT sign a contract nor will I pay any of the per minute bullcrap that they have now. If they want my business then they will change theirs! Do you need broadband? NO. Do you need a cell phone? NO Do you need a internet connection? NO. These are all things that we WANT. But if you put restrictions on what you want then the monopoly companies WILL play nice to get and keep your business if they WANT to stay in business. It is simple Reloadron. It's not rocket science. What I an trying to say is that the people have the power to change things they don't like. Don't LET them control you. Don't settle for their services if they don't treat you like a customer. Monopoly companies are bad news for consumers! And don't ever sign a contract. I'm in a large metropolitan area. Still, I have few choices. And i promise you that I sign a contract (or enter into one) for any of the services. Further, anyone I do work for enters into a contract. Without them, people won't pay. Customer service is big with me - but so are contracts. Manta | |
