Wireless connectivity is an "iffy" thing. Wires work great, especially if you can fish them through the walls and keep them from being underfoot. There are flat ethernet cables which you can run along the walls under carpet. Wires work where wireless sometimes fails.
Yeah I just wired my house a little over a month ago. I prefer wired over wireless, but I have several wirless devices in my house so I use both.

The linksys site does not even list the router. I have only found upto WRT54G v2, yet somehow I have v5
I found the WRT54G router on the Linksys site with the search function.

Lead, could it be that both devices are faulty? I would attempt BIOS update if possible. However, could you be using a beta BIOS from Linksys? You may wish to e-mail Linksys to determine which BIOS you should be using.

The version 5 and later WRT54G's are terrible.

The WRT600N just got PC magazine's Editor's Choice and 3.5 circles out of five.

A true dual-band router. (2.4GHz and 5GHz)

WRT600N

Now this is really pissing me off. Its doing what my old old router used to do, mask my IP, or some crap. I do a whois, and it says my IP is 24.xxx.xxx.xxx, I updated my dyndns account, and now my webserver doesn't work. my old router, if i did a whois, i got an ip with 7x.xxx.xxx.xxx, and my webserver worked fine. This is so frusturating

EDIT: I just tried manually going to my webservers IP, that is located on the network, and the router dropped internet and network communications again. It looks like any attempt to transfer data between two devices on the network ends in the router messing up.

Well I got dd-wrt micro installed and running, stability seems to be better. But I think I will pick up a WRT54GL, which is basically a WRT54G v4, and plus the GL has 926 5egg reviews on newegg. I have no need for MIMO, my old DI-624 manged to get my mum's laptop to still get a connection around 300-400 feet outside our house.

Still having some connection problems, but now they are quick few second disconnects, instead of the multi minute disconnects it was having with the stock firmware.
