yeh i had the same problem with vista. You should either upgrade all pc's on your network to vista or downgrade the vista PC's to xp enless of course you can get some vista drivers for your network hardware which may solve your problem.

I resorted to uninstalling vista like many othere here.

I am not sure about Vista, but with every version before it you had to make sure the Microsoft Networking was bound to the network card. It used to do it by default, but that might have changed. Can you ping the other computer by IP and Name? If so, can you do a NET VIEW of the computer? If the NEW VIEW works, try doing a Run \\ComputerName or \\IpAddress and hit enter.

Lets see what you can do and go from there.

Intel P4 2.8
Asus P5GD2 Motherboard
Micron PC2-4300U 512 RAM DDR2-SDRAM
WDC WD1600JD-22HBB0 150gb
NVIDIA GeForce 6500 256mb
Microsoft Wireless Adapter MN-710
Sony DVD RW DRU-710A
Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (26xxx)
Thermaltake Xaser V

Right on! I need to remember to ask about that as I tend to work with hardware firewalls.

Yeah, I had issues with file sharing in my home network between Vista and XP computers as well. Turns out I just hadn't disabled the firewall on the xp computers (Im behind 2 routers with firewalls so it didn't matter). Now XP and Vista play

ok was helping a friend the other day and we hooked up two computers to a router and everything seemed to be working fine but I noticed that when one was on the internet the other wasn't and wouldn't connect could this be a problem with the computers or the cable modem or just something stupid and simple. Both computers are running windows vista home basic
