Thats why I hate peer to peer networks. Run a server problem solved. In any case, if you disable all the network adapters in all the other computers (or turn the computers off) and run the wizard one computer at a time that will fix the issue.

Ok, then follow what Hit said very closely.
  • All computers should be named differently, which you hav
  • All computers need a user account that matches your main computer, the one your initiating this from, or otherwise...the Gateway
  • You so far have the network initiated, it's just not allowing an unknown account to log on to your computer. Networks must have some sort of handshake to validate who or what is trying to access each drop. You'll need to show that it's you from the other computers, and this is basically cloning your account credentials to all. Then they're all you
Yes, it can be a pain. I bump and feel my way around setting up something. Once it's up, it takes a good time longer to slowly get it back the way I like it; or how it should be. You're on the right path and it's almost there. Once it's up though, don't just lay back from there on. If you're wireless, then you'll have other issues you may want to be concerned of.

This is one area I like wizards, love the USB, and like the one-touch network aware devices. If this is a Linksys, they have a good network set-up and monitoring ap in EZlink advisor. When I had a Linksys product, that saved my butt more times than I could remember. Have it on all, and it just does magic as far as I'm concerned.

Ok I started from scratch with a new network name etc... It works but only when I shut down Zonealarm. Where is the option on ZA to allow that connection?

Honestly unless you're a over paranoid the Router Firewall and windows firewall is more then enough. I would only use Zonealarm on a computer that was connected directly to the internet, not behind a router, or on an open network, like a campus network, or an open wifi connection (Internet Cafe, Hotel or Airport).

I found the option on ZA but I am using the free version and they don't allow to to have specific connection, either the firewall is up or down. But so far it's all there on all 4 computers.

ZA really is not needed. It causes more problems then it's worth, kinda like having two girlfriends.

One option is to remove ZoneAlarm and download/install Comodo Firewall (also free) which is a much stronger software firewall but you can also set rules to allow connections to and from your LAN computers.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

My question is why do you need a firewall in your private network? If you want to beef up your firewall protection download Smoothwall and run it before your router. It will install on any PC. I am talking 400mhz 128mb of Ram and a 4GB HD.
