| How do I check if my router's firmware is up to date, and if it isn't, how do I update it? |

| T-Rex | Err good question. Check your router manual and/or manufacturer website. As for the firmware itself, you usually download it from the manufacturer website. |

| start->run->cmd->ipconfig default gateway will be the router's ip. Should be the menu IP as well, though rented equipment is often protected from user changes. ![]() |

| Thanks, found it. It's 192.168.1.254 for those wondering. Checked, seems the firmware is up to date. Any other possible diagnostics? Last edited by Elysium; May 19th, 2008 at 17:29. |

| T-Rex | Feel the router for heat? I know my DI-624 used to be a bitch about heat. Like it would work fine if I flipped it over on hardcore transfers :P |

| LOL! Well, it was sitting on a phonebook with a phone on top of it so it wasn't exactly getting airflow. I took it and put it on a couple of pens under it to keep the bottom off the desk. We'll see how that goes. |

| Colonel Calamity | If it is the actual internet connection (the modem to the internet), it may help to have the company do a line check on the data side to see if the signal strength is within specs and ask them to place a 24 hour monitor on the line so they can troubleshoot the problem. If it only happens to networked computers then it may be a bug in the firmware and the DSL company may need to replace it... or you can pick up a regular router and let it do the routing and the modem handle the connection side of things. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair!
