Apparently, Computer 1 is connected to the router, and so as Computer 2, but it's just that I want to know why the router only sends Computer 1 packets, while it doesn't send packets to Computer 2.

WOW, why didn't you say that in the first place. First you need to make sure it has an IP address. Open up a C: Prompt and type IPCONFIG if it shows up with an IP addres of 192.168.1.X where X is a value between 2 and 254. Then your getting an IP, if not then you have a connection problem somewhere. Things to try, a different port on the Router, A different Cat 5 Cable, a Different Network Card. More then likely it's the cable you are using.

Can you give me instructions running prompt? I don't exactly get it..

I'm really sure it's not the cable because it was working on the old computer they had.

Start, Run, Type CMD, hit enter.

The first part of troubleshooting a network issue, is to check connectivity. The easiest way to do this is from the machine with the connectivity issue. First you have to make sure you're getting an IP address. Go to C promt and type IPCONFIG, you should see an IP address. If the router is giving you an IP address it should look something like 192.168.1.x if it looks like 169.254.1.x then your computer isn't getting an IP address. This could be anything from Bad Drivers, Faulty NIC, Cable, or Port on the Router. If you are getting an Ping something. The easiest to ping is the router. It's IP address with either be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 depending on the routers manufacture. Type at the C prompt C:\ping 192.168.1.1 and see if you get a reply. If you get 3 successful Replies then your GTG.

While troubleshooting check everything. Make sure the cable is plugged in all the way in both the card and the router. Make sure the cable is not damaged. Make sure the NIC is plugged into the Motherboard all the way. Make sure the NIC is showing up under network properties, and the proper drivers are installed.

I was thinking that it is much easier to visualize 100 yards than 100 meters for the average American. Unless you are/were in the military or did track that is.

If need be, take your computer over to the other jack and just plug it in. If it works, there is something up with the setup of the computer. If it does not, you have a cabling issue. Also just check to make sure that the light on the network card comes on when you plug the cable in.

Let us know what you find find from doing what Hitman suggested. Check the network setup on the machine that works and compare it to the other computer. What is the same and what is different?

On a side note, Mysterio lives in Canada.
Canada uses the metric system. 100 meters is easier for him to understand. :P

Not only that the Network/IT world mostly uses the metric system as well.

Depending on the software your using, you could just use the built in Internet Wizard to help you also. This is the easiest for some people.JM.02 Bailey.
