You have a TON of overclocking room. I would start with just raising the FSB. Now, to do this however you need to watch the memory speed setting. Raise the FSB to 300 and drop the memory multipler to 2.6.

I would set the fans in the case to medium for now and the VX set to high. Also google Speedfan and downlaod it to keep track of your core temps.

Our goal is to get your system running smooth under load and keeping your top core temp below 60c. If we can we want to do this WITHOUT bumping voltage.

You can start lower if you like, my experience has been that most Core2 will go to 300 FSB with little issue. If it does not work there we lower until we find the highest we can go with stock voltage and stock multipler.
So do i need to drop the memory multiplier lower than stock before i start raising the FSB?
Do i need to kinda keep an eye on the computer when orthos is testing, or could i just start it testing and leave it overnight, or go out and do something?

I was trying to say you can overclock two different ways.
  • You can start by lowering the multiplier on your processor and increase the FSB to find the overclocking potential of the memory.
  • You can lower the CPU/RAM divider (or multiplier, depending on how you want to look at it) and increase the FSB to find the overclocking potential of your processor.
Then once you've found the highest stable speed of each individual component, you can try to combine the two for a total system overclock. Follow?

As for Orthos, you should keep an eye on it for 15-30 minutes just to make sure your temperatures aren't going to get out of control. Otherwise you can just let it run away.

I raised the FSB to 343, which raises my CPU to 2.4GHz, and changed my memory multiplier from auto to 2.5 which brought my RAM to only 858MHz, as a pose to te 1080 or something it was at. Before when i raised the FSB and had to clear the CMOS, my RAM speed had gotten up to like 1280 or something, which probably caused my PC to restart over n over.

When your running Blend Test on Orthos, my Temps are going up to 50-56C. when your just using your computer, is it ever stressed as much as the Orthos Blend 10 Test stresses it ?
