You don't HAVE to up the voltage.... It really depends on your pecticular CPU and MB.... Even though it's an E6600, it's not garenteed to reach 3.0GHz. Like my E4300, I heard people getting 3.0GHz too and mine topped out at 2.4GHz!! What a let down.... Good luck, though!!

when your system starts to act funny or it stops passing stress testing is when you should consider increasing the voltage. however you also need to look at temperatures. your stuffs in a smaller case and therefore heat builds up a lot quicker.your going to have problems putting after market cooling on your cpu due to the smaller sized case.

at stock the E6600 outperforms the FX60 which was king of the hill 15 months ago. it has plenty of power at stock to run games today and tomorrow. besides video cards are more of a limiting factor in gaming these days when compared to cpu's

i see.... but one thing i dont understand is my mate found a golden donkey in the street (not really... well i hope not) and sold it to get a x6800. he boasts about never having to over clock but i said his stock temps are going to be like that of a bald man on a summers day (hotter them my e6600 lol).

the reason i chose the thermal tale is because i herd it was one of the best for cooling and quietness and size and as we play each other on quake n co i dont want to be the slow one... what should i do face the music and move to atx or do you know of a good matx case that allows you to overclock without worring to much about temps?

sorry about all the questions lol im just really intruiged about computer limits dese days!

oh dont get me wrong, that case is a very good one. one of the best m/atx cases money can buy. you still have to monitor temps irregardless of cases. the main problem with m/atx cases is that theres very little room for larger, more efficient cpu coolers. so your stock cooling may limit your cpu's overclocking potential. however it should be good to about 3ghz or so. just make sure your 100% load temps dont go over 60c (i personally stop once my temps hit 50c but thats just user choice.) what programs are you using to test your overclock with?

The X6800, is part of Intel's "extreme" line and I beleive it features an unlocked multiplier. As for good mATX cases, check out the CoolerMaster microATX centurion cases, they have 120mm fans and decent airflow. There are also mATX offerings from Lian Li and Silverstone that are designed with 120mm fans and should perform well. Sorry, I don't have time to hunt down product names or links for ya, but if you check out Newegg, go to their cases, and search by manufacturer, then sort it by ascending price the mATX cases should be toward the top of the list (least expensive) from those companies

Thermalright, Thermaltake, Zalman, Arctic Cooling, Scythe, and Noctua are just some of the first ones that come to mind...

Not everyones favorite but the Antec 900 has proven itself to me. Cocmes standard with three 120mm fans and one 200mm exhausting to the top. It also has room for two additional as well. With my Artic 7 HSF my CPU is running at 29C. Thats unstressed an not Overclocked. Nice looking case and also has holes for Water Cooling later if you want. I got it from Provantage for $129.00 including shipping and Best Buy also carries it. The thing is literally a wind tunnel.
