Yea that's what I thought, but when I ran Orthos on it, it stayed in x6.0 on 2 instances

ok then you may need to go into the BIOS and manually change it to 9.0

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Yea it's manually set on 9.0x... it's not that big of a problem, I'm just wondering what would cause it to do that.

If that 6 was read from ORTHOS, it's wrong. It's a bug in Orthos. Check with CPUZ.

Default Re: Problems trying to OC Q2D 6600 and nForce 680i

For some reason my motherboard refuses to OC higher than 3.0GHz as well..

I've gotten a 650i SLI with a celeron D to 5.4GHz stable, and an e6420 to 2.8GHz stable, yet I can't get my Q6600 to even 3.1GHz stable on my 680i. That MIGHT be because mine is the LT or Lite version, but still...

I've tried with/without Ntune, and with all different voltages for both core and Fsb up to 1.4v. I get BSOD's and lockups during run throughs of 3Dmark06's CPU benchmark if the CPU is anywhere over 3001 Mhz. At 3000 Mhz EXACTLY and 1.32v its passed 100 run throughs of the 3Dmark 06 CPU test.

The CPU staying on 6x multiplier is because you most likely have intel Speedstepon.

Anyone know how to fix this though? I'm also having this issue...

LoL! I've had this built since about march 4th now and zero problems so far other than the aparrent CPU OC limit. Other than that, this PC pushes everything max settings and gets 15000+ in 3dmark 06, and for under $900 what more could you ask for?
