Water cooling the CPU/VGA, and potentially the NB (depends how many volts you are putting through it) can help loads. RAM is a bit of a waste, all it does is add restriction to your water cooling loop, and honestly, all the RAM needs is a fan pointed at it (again, depending how many volts you are adding).

Bottom line, the CPU and VGA can benefit quite a bit form water cooling, but not so much the NB or RAM.

You can lay it on it's side outside the case, or use a Swiftech Rad-box if you want a cleaner look. Additionally, you may decide to cut holes in the case and have the radiator mounted inside, if you happen to be good with a Dremel.

Think for now I'm gonna try a VF1000 with a slot cooler. Ideally the VF1000 will blow hot air down, then slot cooler will exhaust it out the back. Given that my existing Zalman CPU cooler is working reasonably well (low 50 C under full load), this seems like a bit easier/cheaper solution.

The VF1000 blows toward the card.

Ahhhh,

Well, can't hurt (I think) to try both....

So I've tightened the RAM timings, but I'm still experiencing some fails (folding 24/7 as a load test). I think the problem in in the OC of the GPU, but had a question about memory.

Is the only measure of a failed RAM OC whether the PC posts or not? In other words, if I tighten and the PC posts, does that mean all is well? Or can the RAM work through the post but then fail sometime later? I haven't added any voltage yet to the RAM - could be I need to....

No. If your PC posts and boots it doesn't mean the RAM is stable.

ORTHOS or IntelBurnTest.

So IBT will work for RAM as well, huh. OK, I'll give it a try when I get home.

Thanks PB

Is there anything PC-related you DON"T know about?

Yep, works wonder for the RAM too. Try to select custom test and choose the biggest amount of RAM without crashing your system. Leave a bit of room for the OS to breathe (100MB on top of your current RAM consumption, you can see your current RAM use in the task manager) to test more efficiently.

There's plenty of things I don't know about yet, which is why I love computers. Always learning. :)

All new hardware installed. Reset memory timings to stock, left CPU OCed and ran IBT - no issues.
Tighten timings from 5-5-5-15 to 4-4-4-12 fail IBT
increase RAM voltage from 1.8 to 1.85 fail IBT
increase RAM voltage from 1.85 to 1.9 fail IBT. GSKILL say 1.8-1.9V, so I'm at max and still failing.
Some have suggested loosening timings back to stock then OCing the RAM directly. anyone have suggestions?
