Confused Polo I edited my earlier post - I had mistakenly said bump up CPU Core, but meant to say CPU FSB, to 1.4. Now had two people say FSB is OK at 1.4, even though 1.3 is max recommended. But you say don't go there? Other suggestions, besides the GTL, are HT to 1.35, SPP to 1.5, and MCP to 1.55 or 1.575. ![]()

Thanks for the help - I certainly need it. Ran with same config as earlier but: CPU Core 1.45 CPU FSB 1.4 Mem 2.2 SPP 1.50 MCP 1.575 HT 1.35. Also played with GTLV settings that someone else said had gotten him to 3.9 stable on q9550. 0 +15 1 +60 2 +15 3 +60 Screen froze on first IBT test (2x, 20 passes) before getting through first pass; restarted and it passed. Left it overnight folding GPU2 and SMP - for a little while I was going at a glorious rate of 11,000 PPD - but when I looked this morning it had, once again, hung after about an hour. Based on earlier advice I bumped GTLV and changed mem to SLI-Ready Memory - disable, linked and synced GTLV 0 +25 GLTV 1 +70 GTLV 2 +35 GTLV 3 +70. Gonna let it run GPU2 only today and try SMP again later tonight, when I'll be around to restart if needed. ![]()

You can't just set GTLs to what someone else has. The calculations are based on other settings on your machine. Check out this guide to properly setting your GTL voltages. Once you've calculated the settings you'll want to tweak them a bit to find out what your processor likes. ![]() Last edited by drew and not u; November 20th, 2008 at 06:16.

Ya know I read that already but didn't see the last step - how to actually APPLY the adjustments. For me right now Vtt = 1.45, so Y = -46mv. OK, fine, that's easy. NOW WHAT? How do I apply the -0.46 adjustment? To every lane? ![]()

You need to make the values for the .667s match the .635s. so apply the necessary adjustments to make this happen. In this case -46 on the .667, or -2 on the 667s and +23 on the .635s, whatever works best for your system. After you set these values you'll want to play around and find out what works best for your system. ![]()

OK, beginning to see the light. Which lanes are 0.667 and which are 0.635? Vtt= FBS Core (right?) So Vtt for me =1.45. Using the equation I get 1.45 x 0.667 +y = 1.45 x 0.635 Solving for Y I get -0.046, or -46mv. So I should set which lanes at -46mv? ![]()

Not sure with yours. I'm used to Asus Intel chipset boards, where FSB Termination voltage is vtt. Might wanna check EVGA forums. ![]()

This was recommended - looks like a good explanation. I've read it once but I'll read it again and test it tonight. How to: What is GTLREF and what does it have to do with me? ![]()

| Wish I could help you with the gTL but I personally have never messed with them. So thanks for the links and sharing your experience It's been enlightening. This guide may also be of assistance to you. Reading back through and from other threads as well it seems to me you are running a GPU client. Correct me if I'm wrong. Therefore maybe our focus needs to shift. If you've already done this then just ignore but I always bump my PCIe_3, MHz (in bios) to 103-105. Considering all components share the same bus it's only natural to assume it needs bumped too so it's running in lock step with the rest of the system. I'm currently running at 103MHz @ 3.8. I guess I just always bump it up and figured most peeps did the same but I noticed in you Screening it was still at default 100. So if you haven't bumped it give it a try. It works for me and may solve your trouble. | PSYCH! I'm calling a VICTORY! Dropped CPU Core, changed RAM settings, upped GTL lanes to +50 each and now I'm 12+ hours folding SMP and GPU2 stable! At 3.825! Temps in high 40s / low 50s. WHOO HOO! ![]() |
