I had no idea how to do it until I found this site. Thanks to you guys it came out the way it did. Now I just need to work a bit more on my cableing.

Ok call me stupid...was just looking through the manual for my MB and came across a connector I missed. There is a 4pin molex on the motherboard for video card power. I plugged in and raised both my 3dMark and PC Mark by around 75 points. Not much but I'll take it!

I ran Orthos on Lvl 9 over night and was still stable in morning. The highest temp appears to have been 51C. Looks like everything is holding stable!

the molex on the motherboard is usually used for extra power for an SLi or crossfire setup. you sure your ment to plug it in with a single card? your probs right, but ive got a molex on the mobo and it says 'xfire power connector'

That is correct, usually these are only required when you have two graphics cards installed in SLI. Not sure which particular 680i eVGA motherboard you have (there are several), but if you look on page 19 of this manual for the "Black Pearl" version, this is what it says about the "Auxiliary Power for Graphics (PWR3)" connector:
Quote:
The PWR3 connector is an auxiliary power connection for graphics cards. Exclusive power for the graphics card provides better graphics performance.
So it doesn't actually say anything about not ever connecting power to PWR3, leading you to believe that the power should be connected whether you have one or two graphics cards installed... :dontknow:

Yes that is the same thing from my manual (online). I did see a small improvement in benchmarks and it doesn't seem to be causing any anomalies so I guess it should be all right. Unless someone can think of a reason to remove it. Last thing I want to hear is poof and smell smoke.

HAHA, I don't think your board will go up in flames. It's probably fine to leave it connected if your system seems to be running good with it.
