polo!!! Ummm I just found out that my card at 660/1610/955 can go higher at 1v. I did thee 3dmark06 3 times and found nothing. So should i keep overclocking until i detect problems? Oh when my video card crashes and i restart my computer does it change back to default or what?

Are you using RivaTuner to overclock?
A BIOS mod is "permanent", as in it will not change if you reboot your computer. However, overclocking via software is only temporary. When you restart your computer, default clocks will be applied.
And sure, nothing wrong with experimenting. Keep the heat down and all should go well.

This is insane... I passed 680/1635/970 at v1 and stock cooling... What is wrong? I am close to 700... wow is this possible polo or am i dreaming?

No this is possible, I realize I made an error earlier and my clocks were higher I think lol, more in the 720mhz range. I remembered after talking to Parker, who's trying to flash his BIOS but doesn't have a USB key. :P

I'm not sure what you are using to check for performance, but there sure is a gain, and not just a marginal small one I think.

For instance, at stock frequencies of 650/950 and linked shaders, in 3DMark06 Return to Proxycon (first test in 3DMark06) when they're in the "car" until the scene changes I would never see over 95fps. At the clocks in my signature, the maximum is 107fps. That's a 10% increase in certain situations, for around $1.50 of hardware. Sure, my overclock is a bit more "extreme" than most people would go for, but if you can get a 5% increase, or even a 3% increase like you can get with a simple BIOS mod and for "free", why not?

Last question before i go to bed. So if my 8800GT is at 700/1650/1000 and say another card like a 8600GTS is at 700/1650/1000 they are equal at speed right? I know the 8600GTs doesn't get that high, but thats an example. So its all about the mhz not about the type of card?

No, not at all. The 8600GTS is a different architecture and many things vary, aside the clock speed.

I managed to whip my EVGA 8800GT at 700/1625/1000 stable. In the 3dmark06 (demo) I only got a gain of about 70 marks, something like that. In HL2 village stresstest, only like 3FPS (avg of maxed 1280x1024). God help me, is it even worth it?

Also, those clock speeds are locked on overclock even on 2d mode. Is that bad, if so can it be changed?
