Nothing special... considering these procs spank the pants off their more expensive dual-core rivals (and brethren), I hardly consider a 2,000MHz OC to be "nothing special".

yeah, I wish it was mine though thanks for the GFX card compliment, I will have to get back into this with my next build....I do need a more powerful setup not to have a CPU or PS as a bottleneck

Follow the bench world on HWbot and such places and ye shall see how many of these records are set and then broken in like a week. Forum Wars 2008 is coming up soon, people kill hardware to get the most points and highest clocks.

There are people I know getting 4.7 on air with E8400//

Heck the Hungarians might break their own record...

hm my point wasn't really the world record, rather the fact that the E8400 looks like the best bang for the buck to those who like to OC and are on a tight budget and can't afford the much more expensive CPU's that aren't that much faster and have little headroom for OC...

Got my E8400 Friday. I've spent the weekend, so far, overclocking this cpu. Now I can't tell you what the temps are because:
Speedfan is giving me bogus readings
Coretemp doesn't work with Vista 64 bit at the moment
Gigabytes own program is having a 'bad hair day' on me
I have set the BIOS to give me a temp warning at 60C and it hasn't gone off yet. (Got my fingers crossed.)
Intel E8400 3.0GHZ stock
Gigabyte P35-DS3L Rev 2.0
Mushkin DDR2 800 ram (4X1gig)
Vista Home Premium 64 bit
Zalman 9700NT
I've been slowly stepping it up and right now the cpu is at 430 X 9 = 3.87 GHZ, memory with a 2X divider for reading of 860. Gonna let it sit here for a while and bake.
I've been running the F@H SMP for my 'torture' tests. Not a hiccup yet.

Intel E8400 - Gigabyte X45-DS4
Zalman 9700NT - 4 Gig Mushkin DDR2-1066

Samsung DVD-RW - Logitec Z-640 speakers

I just got a GA-P35-DS3L for my kids computer. I have to admit, it's very easy to overclock on this board. Probably one of the easiest I've used in a while. Bios is easy and straight forward and for a "budget" board, only cost me $89 at the Egg, it does an excellent job. Only thing that sucks is the lack of RAID support, but I rarely use RAID anyway. And the kids computer will never need it.

Overclocking my E6600 on it. So far, 24 hours of Stress Prime at 3.2GHz has been cake.
