Yeah, I don't remember exactely what it was, or if it was what he set in bios, or what was showing after vdroop. Or it wasn't 100% stable for him.

either way. it was stable at 3.6ish ghz with 1.25v for me... so it's already an improvement over my e6300. So i'm happy. :)

And I should be able to get my hands on some as5 tomorrow, and some ocz freeze hopefully monday, so I'll be able to see how far it'll go with my setup.

Ok, finally got my good heatsink mounted with some ocz freeze (hopefully newegg carries ic7d sometime in the future....), with only a minimum of fuzz (2 cuts and I had to replace one of the push pins.... ).

Click the image to open in full size.

Appears stable using intelburntest, which definetly stresses the cpu faster and harder than orthos or prime95. At 4.15 ghz with orthos running this guy wouldnt break 58c after a good 15 minutes of use... with intelburntest in that same amount of time it had it going at a good 63-67c, and it failed 4 out of 5 runs. Bumped the fsb down to 425, and it passed all the tests. I'll probably run a full 20 test run tomorrow just to make sure, but it looks good for 4ghz right now. I could have swore I only had the volts set to 1.3875 or something like that in bios though... cpu-z is showing 1.392 actual right now though. must have set it to 1.4 or something. *shrug. I'm happy with this. Memory has a slight overclock at this speed too (only 20 mhz, but it doesn't go past 1000mhz all that well in my experience), along with a bit of an overclock on my video cards too (850mhz on the core now, about 1200mhz on the ram). Happy times.

Now if only I could fall asleep....

Try at 1.3875v. Mine shows 1.360v under CPU load when set to that @ 4GHz.

trying it at that voltage alone wasn't stable, but 1.3875 and with the fsb termination voltage and nb voltage taken up a notch, it's looking stable. Time to bump the fsb up a notch and see how far it'll go.

EDIT: Actually, it's not time to do that. Going any further will mean either pushing my ram too hard, or slowing it down by quite a lot. This seems like the sweet spot.

I can always get you my current settings for my E8400. Other than the FSB, multiplier and divider (I have my E8400 @ 4GHz (8x500) and my RAM at 1000MHz 1:1 ratio), the rest should be pretty much the same or very close.

Nah, I'm pretty happy where I'm at. Everything seems to sync up nicely. Thanks though!

It was mostly for voltage I use. I thought they could help you spare a bit of heat. :P

running at 1.3875 is actually pretty cool right now (a full 10 degrees or more cooler under load than at 1.41v, which is where I had it before). Even with the intelburntest, it only got into the 50's temp wise... it's running nice and cool.

Yep. That's what I noticed with mine too.
4GHz is pretty much the sweet spot for wolfies. Not too much heat and good speed all around. After 4GHz you really need to put more and more volts into it.
