How's the voltage? :)

Not that high yet... 1.35v in the bios, all the mobo voltages still set to auto, ram at 2.1v. Should be a bit more left in this chip, assuming my heatsink is up to the task.

Yeah... it's not 100% stable yet though. Hard to say if that's because the cooling is insufficient right now or if it's going to need a bit more volts. (I just tried orthos... in 14 seconds it crashed, and also hit 58c... both of which happened too quick, lol.).

I should get some thermal paste and artic clean tomorrow night though... and then I'll be able to see how far this will go for real.

Well in reality, you might of hit the top with the last OC on air man! That is a complete possibility.
Now I suppose you better save your paychecks up and jump into some serious watercooling to get to the 4.3Ghz..........

Let me know how that works out for ya

Damn overclocking............................

58C's far from crashing a C2D 45nm. It's voltage.

If I remember correctly, the previous owner of the chip hit 4.2 ghz with around 1.36v... but my power supply isn't the best one (it's a model known for high ripple under load), so that doesn't help much. I have another power supply on the way though.... probably going to replace my fsp with that one.

4.2GHz on air with 1.36v is hard to believe I will be honest. Expect 1.4v most of the time for over 4GHz for Wolfies on a P35/P45 unmodded vdroop.

Yeah, there's no way it was running that fast on only 1.36. That like this guy on ebay that was selling a Zalman ResXT telling me it could clock my E8400 past 6GHz. People will always bull**** you to sell you stuff.
