Yeah, those cards were clock-locked when they came out. If you can't overclock it with the latest drivers, go to ATITools' "SETTINGS" and then scroll down to "MISCELLANEOUS" and check the box next to "REMOVE RADEON 9000/9200/9550/9600 CLOCK LOCK". Don't know if that actually works, I figure it's worth a shot.

Catalyst® 7.2 Display Driver for Windows XP Professional/Home Edition

There you go, download the driver, and Install it, should give a decent performance boost too if you are using an old Drive version.

Use the 9550 Softmod drivers. Link It's the safest way to modify your card, however I can not guarantee anything. These seem to be very stable, as per the periodic releases. Hope it works for you!

My Radeon 9600 said the clock lock, but ATI Tool let me OC it regardless.

How about forget the drive and just uncheck the clock lock cause i already dl the 7.2 drive.

When i run Find Max Core it says Heat Phase. When i find max core it only goes up by 1 bar so i keep it there and go no further?

You have to let it do it's thing. It will heat up, bump the clock a bit, check if it doesn't crash, bump the clock a bit, heat up etc etc
This process takes more than just a few minutes.
