next on my wish list (and it is just that, a wish for now), a nvidia 8800 or better, hell I would be happy with the 8800GTS 320MB....

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Well, right now I'm running my q6600 @ 3.2GHZ and I slightly overclocked my 8800 GTS 512 and this is my score. I'm sure I can get it better, but I'm pretty happy.

Or maybe I beat my old score after overclocking

Is everyone using the free version, or purchasing the "Pro" version?

For 3DMark01, 05 and 06 most everyone just uses the free version. But 3DMark Vantage doesn't have a free version (only a trial version that you can use once), so anyone with that has probably paid a small fee for it.

Can we compare 3dmark05 to 3dmark06 scores... or are they completely different (oranges to apples)?

Oranges to apple. 3DMark06 takes the CPU score into account, whereas 3DMark05 doesn't. There's also the fact 3DMark05 doesn't use exactly the same graphical extensions to test. An older card that performs really well in older games won't necessarily perform well in newer games.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

Like polobunny mentioned, you cannot compare scores from any different 3DMark (or PCMark) benchmarks as they are all a bit different. Only compare scores from identical benchmark versions tested using the same resolution and quality settings.

Default Re: 3DMark06 Scores

thats why a score on 05 may shows 20,000 and on 06 may show 11,000 on the exact same system... so they cannot be compared against each other... only 05 to 05 and 06 to 06
