I'm thinkin about it...

So how does the program work?
Do I have to leave my compy on all night?
Or do I just turn the program on when the compy is on?
How much RAM does the program take?

just leave it running in the background and you can keep the computer on itself as long as you want. I myself have 5 systems that run 24/7 in this room and all of them run the FAH 24/7... they are all windows so I still have to reboot them once a week but otherwise not a problem.
Looks like buran needs to check his system since he got 15 points for his first unit which means his system may not be stable...

FAH can detect minor issues with an overclocked system and can return core errors if the system is not stable

Thanks HL and Corsair!

don't think - just do it

no you don't have to have it on at night. once it is installed it it turns on automatically as a service with windows and only uses the unused cycles of your cpu so you won't even notice it running.
go to the welcome thread for instructions on how to install it

So then I'm under the impression that FAH doesn't take any RAM to run??

it does but it is pretty minimal on modern systems. On my AthlonXP 3000+ system it uses 22.5MB of memory, and on my E6600 with SMP client, it uses 278MB but that number goes down when other programs startup like gaming so it frees up CPU speed and memory when needed.

Hmmm.. Alright, I'll think about doing this. My system parts are coming in this weekend, so we will see
Thanks guys!

This can be run on older systems too! I have 5 main systems here and one at my motherinlaws:
P4 1.8GHz
Athlon XPM 2600+
AthlonXP 3000+
Core2 E2140
Core2 E6600

and MIL:
Celeron D 2.53GHz

The 2 Core2s are using the SMP client and all the rest are using the regular client.

I'll do some tests on that, maybe back it back down to 2.8ghz, it wouldn't surprise me if the ram wasn't 100% happy running at 860mhz. I also need to reinstall windows on that comp, the registry is still a little iffy from a problem I had a few months ago... that'll cause a blue screen on start up every once in a while... but I've just had other things to take care of this past week, lol. And what time I have been on the computer was spent playing cod4, lol.

You can always take a look at the log to see what the message is... it is in X:\program files\folding something\fahlog.txt
it should show something in there like "core-client error" or "unable to start service"... the client-core errors is an unstable system.
I know I had zero errors with my E6600 at 2.8GHz and memory at 1120... but did have an error at 2.6GHz with memory at 1160... so this memory limit is somewhere between 1120-1160 with my setup...
