I went from 27% to 21% today Why is it soo slow?!Oh, the WU is due tomorrow at 10PM :( Thats in 22 hours >_< I don't think I can finish it in time :'(

FAH SMP client: 5.91 beta Now using the Gromacs SMP core: ver. 1.73 And there is no installer, so I have no versions for that, but I wouldn't confuse the installer version with the FAH client's version, they're separate. If you're looking at version 5.91 beta, you're looking at the Linux client, to the best of my knowledge, so beware. If you go to Stanford's FAH page, and click on the "downloads" link, you'll find the latest version right there, listed under your OS. You need to right click on an empty space of your bottom bar, and go into task manager, and see what's cooking. You have too much stuff running for your SMP program to make decent progress. FAH is designed to give up it's cpu cycles to almost any other program that requests them, so you have to watch for things that run in the background, that you may not even be aware of - they will steal cpu cycles from FAH, badly. Active types of screensavers that are always drawing pretty stuff on the screen when it's not being used, are a big slow-down for FAH, for instance. (the answer there is to just blank out your screen, rather than have a "floating" Window's logo dance around an empty screen.) You will find it advantageous to not fold with the GPU client, if you're folding with the SMP client, at the same time. (or with any other FAH client). SMP places some heavy demand on bandwidth, as do other FAH clients. Although the cpu could handle both in many cases, the bandwidth can't, and both clients can get starved into a slow-down. (Sorry I misspelled your handle, Robodude666).

| Ok, well... I had the SMP client running over night and it didnt do ANYTHING at all. I restarted the client because I thought it may have froze and it is still at 31%. Is something going wrong? I think I prefer the graphical client since it runs faster =/ No worries =P Its robodude666 though, not Robodude666 lol | ||||||||||||||

| if you close the client without restarting the computer it may freeze and do nothing... so restart your computer anytime you close the SMP client also the version 2.2.0 I mentioned is for FahMon, not the SMP folding client. 5.91 is the full client package version 1.73 is the core version which depends on the WU 2.2.0 is the FahMon version (completely different program) ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Hmm, well my SMP client's deadline passed. I rebooted and ran it again. I got another 1million frame WU. So far it updated twice and in 40 minutes to completed 2% thats about 2.5 days to complete! Very nice :) Since I don't want to load my CPU with graphical and SMP I decided to get my laptop in working shape! I installed ubuntu 7.04 on it and installed the linux client on there. It is currently working on a 125,000 WU which is cool. I will let it run over night and see how it does. Cheers, -robodude666 | ||||||||||||||

| I knew you'd like it better without the GPU folding at the same time! So you're just trying to trick me with the this font stuff? Too bad for you, I've been tricked by the best, including the Garbagemen, 7-11 clerks, parking meters, and sneaky parrots! ![]() Fold On!! | ||||||||||||||

No, I am not trying to trick you. I am simply saying the first r is in a different larger font than the other letters... ![]() I will =D I had my laptop folding but it takes an hour to complete 1250 frames X_x Plus it is louder than a tornado.. so I stopped it :( I am hoping to get my new HDDs soon so I can stick my old drives into my old P4 which I will use as a server and I will have it folding under linux. Does F@H give you extra points for having multiple CPUs running? -robodude666

PS: Are you addicted yet? ;) * I guess it could be argued that having multiple CPU's could give you bonus points if you fold using SMP. But that's only if you have Dual CPU/Core, not multiple single core PC's. Server: AMD x2 6000+ Asus M2N-E Asus 8600GT Fanless 2GB PC2-6400 OCZ Plat.
