Truth be told, there's almost always ballpark numbers, something you can expect from a certain set of components. It would be useful to know the rated speed and timings from your memory, as this information is missing from your signature.

Sweet point should be between 3GHz and 3.2GHz.
3.2GHz could be achieved using 400FSB x 8 multi. If you have DDR800 memory, this enables you to run it in a 1:1 ratio with the FSB.
vCore I would expect between 1.38v and 1.4v to be stable.

The G.Skill is DDR2 800,
timing is 5-5-5-15.
1.8-1.9V.

Alright, then your "best" (read easiest) bet would be to go something based off a 400FSB to get a 1:1 ratio (best performance) and land a decent overclock.
This way your memory runs at stock speeds and you can get a nice overclock using a 8x multiplier.
Earlier I said 1.38v to 1.4v for the vCore, but you might be able to run with as little as 1.35v.

Anyway, whenever you decide to overclock, if you are running SMP in service don't forget to stop and put it in manual mode. You don't want an unstable overclock crashing your current work unit. =)

to PTRMAN and all those who use the SMP client: just added 2 more tips in the stickie:

Tip 4. Installing the new 6.22 SMP client:

after installing the client and running install.bat from the directory,
don't start the client yet.

Make a shortcut to desktop from the Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe
open the shortcut's properties and put in a flag: -smp
it will look like this:

Click the image to open in full size.
Click the image to open in full size.

now, click on the shortcut and start configuring the client. if you start the client from the directory where it was installed, without the -smp flag, than it won't work as an smp client but as a regular client (you will loose the points advantage of the smp and it will just use 1 core of your CPU)

Tip 5. Getting more PPD from the SMP client:
if you want more points, make sure to configure the following:

Click the image to open in full size.
Click the image to open in full size.

1. when asked choose the big work units
2. change advanced options by writing yes and when asked about scientific WU's, just say yes.

this way you always get the big scientific WU's that have big points bonuses (the smallest WU's I had were 1760pointers, the biggest were 2500points.)

I saw the stickie for the first time the other day and was going to add point 4 but you beat me to it.

Thanks for point 5 - I think I've got the Scientific WUs enabled (had a 2140 pointer the other day), but I'll check when I get home.

I haven't looked - is FahMon mentioned anywhere in the advice sections?

yes it is. in the welcome section. BTW, I'm back folding. unfortunately not the SMP client. I can't make it work on my rig. it always crushes which I'm sure is the fault of my windows but I can't afford to reinstall windows so for now its just 2 regular clients (1 for each core)... it seems to work just fine but my PPD according to FAHMON is only around 450. well every little helps and maybe our team will stop sliding down in ranks...

Looks like everyone's efforts are paying off. Kakao Stats says we're currently #762 but projects us to #749 in 30 days. Not too bad, considering some of the numbers other teams are putting up.

What exactly do you mean by manual mode?

Service startup mode set to Manual instead of Automatic, so it doesn't start folding on a not-yet-stable build.
If you haven't installed SMP as a service you can step away.
