Didn't get any problem here. You might want to restart the client/computer to see if this solves it.
On a side note, I hate project 3065 (Run 4, Clone 62, Gen 22). They take me 15 minutes a step instead of 10 and a half/11 minutes for the usual SMP WU bringing down my usual PPD of over 2500 to 1800 and lower. :/

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

in most cases it reports when it was finished, not what time it is sending it in so you still get credit for it (in most cases that I have seen).

The IP that is issued to the work is sometimes just shut down and may never open again. You can keep it attempting for a while, and then ditch it if you want. The most scary word you want to see is not in the sending, but the "no other work to do" line.

The password thing isn't a big deal really. On a single profile machine, you can have it automatically log-on to your account so you don't have to re-enter it each time you reboot. On multi-profile computers, it's sage advice to have a PW on the Admin account anyway.

The loss of work is hit and miss. As a service, it may lose a work unit 2 out of 10 user initiated shutdown. In my experience, you lose 10 of 10 with mandatory shutdowns. It seems aimed at the client shutting down properly, and the forced shutdowns/restarts are pretty brutal IMO. Not just F@H, but it seems many other apps hang in these by the ensuing multiple "BING" gongs being heard as it ruthlessly shuts down. If installing/uninstalling, tell the last window "No, I'll shut down later" and then do so with the normal Start->Shutdown->restart. Still, check the FAHLOG and see what the percentage is. If it's over 35-40, I wait it out. Under, just shut down and take the 1:5 odds.

With ppd, I'm finding very vast averages for a group of machines. An X3350 (3.2Ghz)/2G memory seems to get 1.75K and probably one day of the week it spits out two. An X3850 (3.5Ghz) and 4G memory will do consistant 2.8K units, but at about 17 hour runs...the daily average is still about the same. An 8400/2G/SFF still does 1.7K. None seem to get the same work to do.

thanks. can you tell me though how can I have it automatically log in? I couldn't find any options or check boxes in my XP pro (main rig) or vista (laptop)

BTW, I found out from stanfords website about my problem. both WU's were trying to connect to servers that were in standby mode. now one of those servers are back up again so one of the WU's (the last one) were sent but it looks like the other one (finished on may 4th ) is lost even if the server its trying to connect is back because I think the deadline for that is up so at least one of the WU's was sent (1760p.) the other one I lost because of the server down (2100p.)

here is the server page (there is also a link in FAHMON):

I would think you'd get credit for that WU anyhow - yeah, it's been sent out again but you still had it done in time.

If you want you could post on the folding forums about it and they could help you further, at least see that you get credit for folding it I would think.

for the auto login, get TweakUI for XP and TweakVI for Vista... it has the option to do that for you

  • Start, run, "Control userpasswords2"
  • Clear the "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" box, and Apply
  • Enter your user name and PW that you want it to log into, Click "OK"
  • One last "OK", and it's done.
Now when you reboot, it does the log on for you and just goes on into your account. If you want to switch users after that point, you can still log off and use the Welcome Screen

Ya, had a couple of those at first. I believe it's part of the advanced settings where we specify to get units with deadlines and not both (no preference). I know it sounds counter productive to what's happening, but I haven't had one since specifying this.

The autologin kinda defeats the purpose of having a password on an account, though. :P
To stay safer, you would be best running SMP as a service, entering your user credentials so it starts at computer boot no matter if your account is logged in or not.

in cases like mine, the SMP refuses to run as a service. Not sure why because this has spanned this same computer over multiple windows reinstalls...
yet my other computer runs the SMP as a service just fine
