| Yes the folding implication into the PS3 has been a very efficient and successful one. My friend has a custom cooler for the PS3 and whenever he isn't doing anything, he's folding - all the time! I have absolutely no idea what the folding process is, but doesn't it have something to do with donating excess processor power for the big research facilities to use as actual processing power? If I'm lost, I'd like to know as it's quite interesting how us doing something that technically doesn't effect us whatsoever, can be going towards something that could potentially, in the future, help us more than we could imagine. |

| Colonel Calamity | on the technical side..... F@H runs your processor at 100% while the computer is on but as a low priority process so whenever another program needs CPU power, F@H throttles down and gives the other program whatever speed it needs. For a non-dedicated folding machine this means lower points per day because it is not running 100% 24/7. It uses the CPU cycles that are not being used which is the purpose of this program. I myself have 6 desktops that run 24/7 and 1 part time when I am at work. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Partly, it's a summer cycle; as it gets hotter, or people are going on vacation, etc., the computers get shut down. I was just noticing the huge amount of the US that is 90 F on the national weather map - seems like only the far Northeast and Northwest are not colored red or worse, burnt umber (which oddly, seems to be the forums background color), (meaning 100 F or more). Hopefully, as the weather cools off, the folding rigs that are MIA, will fire back up. As for personnel, I notice Sbohdan has not posted or folded here, for awhile. Ditto White Eagle. Attu was me, and he and I were a temporary boost only, to help get HL into the upper echelon of teams so the full stats would be viewable on EOC. Retention is a always a problem with a DC project like FAH that goes on and on, with no perceived end in sight. Unfortunately, that's how science works. You can't just say "I'll make that big discovery by ....Tuesday!!" ![]() Congratulations Panda Man on getting to 50,000!! --> Your folding is one of the big reasons that HL has moved up as well as it has. ![]() |
